Franklin L. Shilling, Ret. Lt. Col. USAF, age 82, passed away Tuesday, September 12th in his residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice.

Franklin was the son of Clinton Riley Shilling and Lillian Lane Shilling of Staunton, VA. After retirement from the United States Air Force, he was employed by Aeronautical Radio, Inc. and International Civil Aviation Organization. He loved his God, family and pets. Franklin most enjoyed serving others through Baptist Disaster Relief. He was a member of the Open Door Sunday school Class at First Baptist Church and attended services at...

Franklin L. Shilling, Ret. Lt. Col. USAF, age 82, passed away Tuesday, September 12th in his residence under the care of Ogeechee Area Hospice.

Franklin was the son of Clinton Riley Shilling and Lillian Lane Shilling of Staunton, VA. After retirement from the United States Air Force, he was employed by Aeronautical Radio, Inc. and International Civil Aviation Organization. He loved his God, family and pets. Franklin most enjoyed serving others through Baptist Disaster Relief. He was a member of the Open Door Sunday school Class at First Baptist Church and attended services at Temple Baptist Church.

Franklin is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary Delores Shilling; daughter, Dellarie Lane Shilling of Statesboro; son, Thomas Alvin Shilling and his wife, Cherie of Spartanburg, SC; grandchildren, Katelyn Lucile Stephens and Christian Thomas Stephens both of Statesboro; Leslie Anne Lane and her husband, Kevin of Nashville, TN; Kellie Marie Alexander and her husband, Brent and Taylor Lane Shilling all of Spartanburg, SC; brother, Clinton Shilling of Staunton, VA; sisters, Sally Hicks of Staunton, VA and Mary Jo Shannon of Roanoke, VA and several nieces and nephews.

A private graveside funeral service will be held at Arna Church and Cemetery in Atkinson County, GA.
